Magnificent Monday is…

1. Having a 6-year-old cover “The Fox (what does the fox say?)”, complete with accurate lyrics, electro beat-box SFX. (I can no longer listen to that song without hearing her adorable voice-over / cracking up every time!)

2. While I was sat in the CH filling in the daily journal for a child…
Child: “Ms. Ellie, can you please write for Mummy that I love Ms. Ellie?”
Me: “Oh! And why do you love Ms. Ellie?”
Child: *leans close to rub cheeks on me, then buries her face into my sweater taking deep breathes and finally looking up with wide grin* …because you smell like strawberries!
Me: “Ahh..so that’s why you love Ms. Ellie! So, what happens when Ms. Ellie comes in smelling of poo?”
Child: “Ohhhh…! *as if pausing a moment to consider*
Me: “Will you stop loving Ms. Ellie then?”
Child: “No, of course not! That’s ok Ms. Ellie, you just need to take the clothes and wash them, then you won’t smell anymore.”
And with that consolation, she leans to steal a quick peck on my left cheek and bounces off to join the others getting ready for snack-time

3. And as I continue to be seated and engrossed in writing, the same child returns and leans in to steal sniffs…
Child: “Ohh Ms. Ellie, your hair is… smelly and yummy!”
Me: *thinking to myself: WhippleToffeeFudge!?!, then trying not to chuckle* “And how is it smelly and yummy?”
Child: “Mmm…the hair on your left side smells of (tree) branch eeuugghhh, and the other side smells like photos!”
Inspiration truly is everywhere.

4. Three children busy at work drawing and writing the name labels for the planets of our solar system in orbit, begin to sing a capella amongst themselves a song they have been learning for the month…”We are the planets and this is our song, Gather all your friends and come and singalong…” (original version:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGSbf5GUWO8)

5. The power of Self-Correction: overheard in conversation…
Child 1:”Hey, how many planets you got there? I think I have one extra!”
Child 2: “…I think I missed one.”
Both children begin to re-count, then to look at the illustration of a storybook about “Space”.
Child 3: “That’s because the Sun is not a planet, it’s a burning star!”

May we all enjoy a super-duper week! With metta.
